Frequently Asked Questions

Good questions deserve straight answers. Here are the ones we hear most often.

What exactly do you do? Is this just investment management?

Investment management is part of what we do, but it's only one piece. We do comprehensive financial planning, which means we look at your entire financial picture at once: your investments, your taxes, your insurance, your estate plan, your retirement timeline, and your cash flow. Most of our clients come in thinking they're getting a portfolio manager and walk away with a full financial team. There's a big difference.

How do you get paid?

We're transparent about this because it matters. For clients with managed investments, we charge an annual advisory fee based on the assets we manage. That fee starts at 0.95% annually and decreases as asset levels grow. We also offer a comprehensive planning engagement starting at $3000 ($250/mo) annually, which covers cash flow modeling, retirement projections, investment analysis, insurance review, and estate coordination. If insurance is part of your plan, we're compensated directly by the carriers. We'll walk through all of this clearly before you make any decisions.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. Jacob Campbell is a Certified Financial Planner and a fiduciary. That means he's legally required to act in your best interest, not his. Not all financial advisors are held to this standard. Some are only required to recommend products that are "suitable," which is a much lower bar. As a fiduciary, every recommendation we make has to be in your best interest, period.

Do I need to have my documents ready before the first call?

No. The first conversation is just that: a conversation. You don't need to bring anything or prepare anything in advance. We'll ask you questions, listen to what's going on, and tell you what we see. If it makes sense to move forward together, we'll walk you through exactly what to gather next. Come as you are.

What does the first conversation look like?

It's a 30-minute Zoom call. Jacob and a member of the team will be on it with you. We'll start by explaining what we do and how we work, and then we'll ask you about your situation, your goals, and what's been on your mind financially. At the end, we'll tell you what the next steps would look like if you wanted to move forward. No pressure, no pitch.

Is there a minimum to work with you?

We work with successful professionals and business owners who are ready for comprehensive financial planning. If you're not sure whether you're the right fit, the best thing to do is schedule a conversation. We'll tell you directly whether we think we can help.

I already have a financial advisor. Why would I switch?

That's a fair question, and we'd never tell you to leave a good relationship. What we'd ask is: does your current advisor look at your full picture? Do they coordinate with your CPA? Have they reviewed your estate plan? Do they meet with you more than once a year? If the answer to most of those is no, it might be worth a conversation to see what a more coordinated approach could look like. You don't have to decide anything on that first call.

I already have a CPA and an attorney. Do I still need you?

Having a CPA and an attorney is great. The problem most people have is that those professionals each handle their own piece, but nobody is looking at all of it together. We work alongside your existing CPA and attorney, not instead of them. We're the team that coordinates everything and makes sure your advisor, your CPA, and your attorney are all working from the same plan. If you don't have a CPA or attorney, we can help connect you with the right people.

What's the difference between a CFP and a regular financial advisor?

A Certified Financial Planner has completed extensive education requirements, passed a rigorous exam, and is held to ongoing ethical and continuing education standards. The CFP designation is widely regarded as the gold standard in financial planning. Not every financial advisor holds this credential. Jacob is both a CFP and a CLU, which adds specialized expertise in insurance and estate planning on top of the core planning foundation.

What if I'm not sure I'm ready?

Most people who schedule a conversation aren't totally sure they're ready. That's fine. The first call isn't a commitment. It's just a chance to see where you stand and whether working together makes sense. The worst case is you walk away with a clearer picture of your finances than you had before.

Don't see your question here?

Just ask us directly. The first conversation is free and there's no obligation. We're happy to answer anything before you decide whether to move forward.
